How did this come to our attention?
The decision to embark on this food distribution project during Ramadan was not made in isolation. It was the result of deep engagement with the communities we serve.
In the weeks leading up to Ramadan, our field officers and volunteers carried out routine visits and follow-ups in various localities. During these interactions, several families and local leaders expressed concerns about food insecurity and the difficulty many households were facing in preparing meals to break their fast.
Additionally, reports from our community-based partners and volunteers highlighted the increasing vulnerability of certain groups—particularly widows, the elderly, and low-income families—during this sacred month. These concerns were consistent across multiple areas, indicating a pressing and widespread need.
Moved by these reports and guided by our mission to serve humanity, ICODEHS reached out to our long-time partners at the Red Crescent. Together, we developed and executed a plan to respond quickly and compassionately to this urgent call.
This initiative is a direct reflection of our belief that listening to the voices of the people is the first step in meaningful humanitarian work.

Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills.” Qur’an 2:261
